Jonathan Goodwin recently came to the UK from South Africa to join our growing team of actuarial analysts. We asked Jonathan to share a few things about himself.
What inspired you to become an actuary?
I have always loved mathematics so it was a natural progression for me to pursue a career where I could use my skills. After researching potential careers I landed on becoming an actuary. An actuary needs to be able to weave together maths and financial problems and find solutions to real-world issues. That’s how I know it’s the right career for me!
What do you like most about working at MBE Consulting?
The culture. It was amazing to find a company that emphasises and supports working collectively and at the same time helps you to build on your individual strengths. So in essence the people are the best part of me.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Friends and family and of course our rescue dog and five cats.
What energises you outside of work?
Exercising, keeping active and getting outside (whatever the weather!).
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love going to the cinema and watch all the new releases (often more than once, my favourites are Star Wars and Lord of the Rings). I love movie popcorn (must be salted!).
